Bài mầu:

I would like to tell you about the time when I owned my first-ever smartphone.

It was the iPhone 6 Plus Gold, a gift from my dad when I was admitted to the university about 8 years ago if my memory serves me right. Honestly, I was allowed to use the phone quite late compared to all my friends since my parents wanted me to entirely focus on my studying and stay away from any distractions. However, at that time I didn’t really understand their good intentions and usually got mad at them for not letting me use a phone.

When I was in high school, I had always dreamt of an iPhone, which was quite a luxury for most Vietnamese students at that time. My dad promised me that if I got a high score in the University Entrance exam, he would definitely buy it for me as a reward, so it actually became one of my motivations to try hard and burn the midnight oil

I still remember that the day my dad took me to the store to purchase and unbox the iPhone 6, I was extremely over the moon because it was such a big deal for me. I also felt grateful and satisfied that my hard work finally paid off and knew that my family always wanted the best for me. That phone had been an indispensable device for me for quite a long time. Not only did it help me to entertain, but it also facilitated my studying and daily activities, with so many tools and applications that helped me do all my work efficiently.

2. Câu trả lời mẫu IELTS Speaking part 3 ngày 14/05/2022

2.1. What are the advantages of smartphones these days?

Well, I think there are two major benefits of smartphones, with the first one being its convenience. Such a compact device enables users to have access to the Internet at just the touch of a button, keeping them abreast of all the current affairs. One more obvious advantage is that many smartphones are incorporated with magnificent features and applications so that we can basically do everything without having to carry many heavy gadgets around, ranging from taking high-quality photos to storing documents and attending online meetings.

2.2. Do young and old people use phones in the same way?

Clearly, each person uses their phone in a different way, but I would say there are some fundamental differences between the young and the old. The young generation, they are largely tech-savvy, so they use their phone to its full potential, not only for communication but also for other purposes such as entertainment, studying, and working. Meanwhile, the elderly tend to use their phone for making calls as the primary purpose, and might also read the news or watch videos on platforms such as Youtube in their free time.

2.3. Many people think mobile phones can be annoying at times. Can you give any examples of that?

I totally agree with this idea because as technology advances, so does social media. In today’s world, we tend to be absorbed in the virtual world, and this has caused many of us distress and distractions, making us feel insecure and obsessively focus on unrealistically positive expectations. And as if this isn’t bad enough, the rise of mobile phones means that we are expected to be in touch at all times, so it is no longer acceptable to say that you are on vacation and cut off from communication with the outside world.

2.4. What are the advantages and disadvantages of old people using smartphones?

The obvious benefit that the elderly gain from using smartphones is that they are able to keep in touch with family and friends easily. In the past, the old generation had to make use of correspondence if they lived far away from their relatives, but nowadays everything is done with a small gadget, so geographical distance is no longer a problem. On the other hand, many old people are technophobes, so they might find using a mobile phone an unpleasant experience rather than a convenience of modern life.
