Describe a house or an apartment that you want to live in

Describe an ideal house, Describe a house or apartment you would like to live in the future hay Describe a house or apartment you would like to live in the future là những chủ đề thường xuyên xuất hiện trong bài thi IELTS Speaking Part 2.

1. Bài mẫu đề thi IELTS Speaking Part 2 ngày 01/06/2022

Describe a house or an apartment that you want to live in.

You should say:

– What it would look like

– How big it would be

– Where it would be located

and explain why you would like to live there.

Bài mẫu band 7.5:

It’s safe to say that I have given my dream house a considerable amount of thought. But first I must say that I’m currently residing in a small apartment in District 3, Saigon, a thriving metropolis in southern Vietnam.

However, I dream of moving to the breathtakingly beautiful mountainous area of Dalat, located in the central highland of Vietnam. My special house would have a variety of features. Firstly, it would be a two-storey detached house built from glass and timber with an outdoor terrace so that my family can sunbathe every day. I would also want to have an infinity swimming pool and an immaculately kept garden because I’m very passionate about flora and fauna. There is no greater feeling than being able to enjoy the idyllic scene that Dalat has to offer while relaxing in the water. Last but not least, it would be wonderful if my house had a spacious living room with a fireplace as well as an open-plan modern kitchen and a cozy dining room where I can invite all my friends over for dinner sometimes.

The reason why I want to have this splendid house is because I really appreciate the cold weather that Dalat has to offer and would love to immerse myself in the local culture there. The house would be big enough for all of the family to enjoy at once. Moreover, I would love nothing more than to be at one with nature and I think that house would really allow me to do that in a safe and comfortable environment. Dalat is also not too far from Ho Chi Minh City, so it might be convenient for travelling back and forth between the two locations if I need to.

Từ vựng highlight:

  • It’s safe to say: chắc chắn
  • metropolis: thủ phủ
  • breathtakingly beautiful: đẹp hút hồn
  • detached house: nhà biệt lập
  • timber: gỗ
  • immaculately kept garden: khu vườn được chăm sóc cẩn thận
  • flora and fauna: thực vật và động vật
  • idyllic scene: phong cảnh yên bình
  • spacious: rộng rãi
  • open-plan: không ngăn vách
  • splendid: tuyệt vời
  • immerse: hoà mình
  • be at one with nature: hoà hợp với thiên nhiên

2.1. Do Vietnamese people like to own a house or an apartment?

Just like people in any part of the world, whether Vietnamese people prefer a house or an apartment is a matter of personal preference. But as far as I know, the majority of Vietnamese would opt for a house because the benefits that it offers are more considerable. In Vietnam, if you own a house, you also own the land that the house is built on, so purchasing a house is indeed an investment. Another decisive factor is that you can have spacious outdoor areas such as a swimming pool or a garden, which can only be used as communal facilities if you live in an apartment block. Having said that, residing in a house is associated with greater safety risks such as break-ins and burglary, whereas apartment blocks provide 24/7 security services for their residents.

2.3. Do city people like to live in old or modern buildings?

Again this depends on personal preference as each individual is unique. However, old buildings are often rundown, so city dwellers tend to choose new tower blocks if they have the financial capability. Living in a high-rise building with ultra-modern design is likely to be everyone’s first choice since this comes with excellent amenities. Nevertheless, some old buildings are of great interest architecturally and only the well-off can afford.

1. Bài mẫu đề thi IELTS speaking part 2 ngày 10/06/2022

Đề thi:

Part 2: Describe a time when you spent a long time in a traffic jam.

You should say:

When and where did it happen?

How long you were in the traffic jam?

What you did while waiting?

And explain how you felt when you were in that traffic jam

Bài mẫu band 7.5

I would like to tell you about a time when I got stuck in the traffic for what felt like ages.

It happened quite a long time ago when I was a university student. I was living in the dormitory and one day I took the bus to the city center in order to sit the test of proficiency in Korean. Unfortunately, the bus was chock-a-block with people, so I couldn’t find a seat and had to stand during the whole ride. As if things weren’t bad enough, the bus was mired in gridlock at one of the roundabouts along the way. I was extremely exhausted having to stand for hours in a cramped bus with no air conditioning. Later there was even a feeling of worry and frustration when I realized the bus hadn’t moved an inch in thirty minutes, and I couldn’t do anything about it. I looked out of the window and saw the road was bumper to bumper, with cars honking and people upset.

The congestion made me late for the exam and I ended up not being allowed to enter the test room. Honestly, to describe that as a painful experience in my life feels like an understatement because the test was crucially important to me, and I had burnt the candle at both ends to study for it. Eventually, I had to register for a new test and tried to arrive at the venue in plenty of time on the test day.

Từ vựng:

  • dormitory: ký túc xá
  • sit a test: làm bài thi
  • chock-a-block: chật kín người
  • mired in gridlock: kẹt xe
  • roundabout: bùng binh
  • frustration: sự tức giận
  • bumper to bumper: kẹt cứng xe
  • congestion: sự kẹt xe
  • understatement: nói nhẹ đi so với thực tế
  • register: đăng ký
  • arrive in plenty of time: tới trước thật sớm

Why are cities today facing serious traffic issues?

I think traffic problems are unlikely to be brought about by one particular factor, and is more probably the result of a combination of different influences. Fundamentally, the increasingly affordable price of cars is the primary reason for heavy traffic in conurbations. Major advances of the automobile industry means cars can be manufactured by cost-effective means, leading to a higher number of drivers on streets. The fact that there are more and more people migrating to cities for job opportunities also contributes to traffic congestion since the demand for travelling to work and other places would increase substantially, especially at rush hour.

What can be done to improve traffic conditions in cities?

There are effective measures to help deal with traffic problems in urban areas, and I think the main responsibility lies with the government. The way forward might be to invest in public transport. Better services and affordable ticket fares would likely make people leave their cars at home and opt for buses or trains to commute. Traffic jams could also be solved by setting up traffic-free zones in downtowns, where cars and motorbikes are banned, and by introducing bike-rental schemes to encourage individuals to cycle more regularly. This has the added benefit that air quality in cities could be enhanced.

Can developing public transport help resolve traffic issues in cities?

This would definitely have a positive impact on traffic in major conurbations. People preferring private vehicles is directly linked to inadequate public transport facilities. Commuters often find it inconvenient and time-consuming when using mass transit. Installing comfortable seats and air conditioning units, or opening more direct routes for buses and subway trains, for instance, would clearly encourage people to get into the habit of using public transport, which helps ease congestion and decrease the number of road accidents.

Bài mẫu band 7.5

I’m going to tell you about a thing that has been indispensable for my daily activities.

This might sound a bit strange to you but I really can’t go anywhere without bringing my stainless steel tumbler. It was a gift from my best friend on my 22nd birthday, which I have used for almost three years.

I still remember that the tumbler was in a Starbucks’ limited collection and was exactly the one that I desperately wanted to buy but they sold out so quickly. When I received it from my friend, I was extremely surprised and kind of emotional because that showed how my friend cared about me.

To be completely honest with you, I’m a coffee addict, and my brain literally can’t function without coffee because it’s the only thing that keeps me awake and focused. I make my own coffee every morning since buying several cups of coffee on a daily basis would be both expensive and totally not environmentally friendly as they’re usually sold in plastic cups.

Not only does the tumbler have an attractive design but it’s also vacuum-insulated, keeping my drink cold for the whole day, even in scorching hot weather. It also means a lot to me because it always reminds me of my bestie, even though we’re now living in different cities.

Từ vựng:

  • indispensable: không thể thiếu
  • stainless steel tumbler: ly giữ nhiệt không gỉ
  • limited collection: bộ sưu tập giới hạn
  • desperately: cực kỳ
  • emotional: xúc động
  • coffee addict: người nghiện cà phê
  • function: hoạt động
  • environmentally friendly: thân thiện với môi trường
  • vacuum-insulated: giữ nhiệt
  • scorching hot: nóng như lửa
  • bestie: bạn thân

2. Bài mẫu đề thi IELTS Speaking Part 3 ngày 13/06/2022

2.1. Why are children attracted to new things (such as electronics)?

Well, because children’s brains are still programmed to learn everything in life, they tend to be eager with all things around them. We all might remember our childhood when we asked our parents a bajillion questions like ‘why can we eat salad but not grass?’. Speaking of electronics, they are very visually exciting, so it’s understandable that those devices often arouse a sense of curiosity for young minds.

2.2. Why do some grown-ups hate to throw out old things (such as clothes)?

I guess this is linked to old memories that make adults feel retrospective whenever they see their old stuff. Especially when it comes to clothes, they are often gifts that someone has received from their loved ones, so it’s really hard to throw them away even when they are worn out. Another reason might be that some people want to lead a ‘zero-waste’ life and try to reuse and recycle things as much as they possibly can.

2.3. What do you think influences people to buy new things?

I personally think that the rampant consumerism of modern society is the decisive factor making people pay too much attention to buying and owning things. Advertisements in the media and promotions from business also compel people to open their wallets to buy new stuff, even when they’re unnecessary.

“Describe a gift you would like to buy for your friend”

1. Bài mẫu đề thi IELTS Speaking part 2 ngày 17/06/2022

Đề thi:

Part2: Describe a gift you would like to buy for your friend.

You should say:

What gift you would like to buy?

Who you would like to give it to?

Why you would like to buy a gift for him/her?

And explain why you choose that gift?

Bài mẫu band 7.5:

I’d like to tell you about a gift that I’m gonna buy for my best friend on her birthday this year.

My friend has a soft spot for sneakers and she even has a huge collection of shoes from various brands, both local and international ones. There is that pair of Nike Air Max 97 that she’s been totally obsessed with but kind of can’t afford since they’re a little pricey, about more than 200 dollars.

I’ve decided to buy them for my friend next month as her birthday is coming real soon. I bet she’d be absolutely elated and surprised by such a stunning gift.

To speak frankly, there’re just a couple of people I’d spend more than a hundred dollars on when it comes to gift buying, and my best friend is definitely one of those. You know, we’ve been best friends for five years and gone through all ups and downs together, so I really want to treat her on her special day. I also think that sneakers are such a meaningful gift that shows one’s love and appreciation to those who receive them.

Từ vựng:

  • have a soft spot for sth: yêu thích cái gì
  • obsessed with: mê thích
  • pricey: đắt
  • elated: rất vui và hạnh phúc
  • stunning: tuyệt vời
  • to speak frankly: Nói thật
  • ups and downs: thăng trầm
  • appreciation: sự trân trọng

2. Câu trả lời mẫu IELTS Speaking part 3 ngày 17/06/2022

2.1. When do people send gifts to others?

Well, it seems obvious that all of us would send gifts to our loved ones on holidays and special occasions. Around the world, when it’s holiday seasons such as Christmas in Western countries or Tet in some Asian nations, friends and families are excited to prepare gifts for those around them. Besides, gift giving is sort of a must during celebrations such as weddings, anniversaries or birthdays.

2.2. Why do people like to receive gifts?

I guess we’re all somebody’s close friend or significant other, aren’t we? So when we receive a gift from our loved ones, whether it’s prohibitively expensive or just a few bucks, we all feel happy and grateful because there’s always someone out there who loves and cares about us.

2.3. Will people feel happy when receiving an expensive gift?

Honestly, I feel that most people would be pleased and delighted with luxury overpriced presents. It’s not only because we tend to be attracted to material possessions as humans but also due to the fact that we must be very important to those who are willing to spend lavishly on items they give us.

Describe an old friend you enjoy talking with

1. Bài mẫu đề thi IELTS speaking part 2 ngày 18/06/2022

Part2: Describe an old friend you enjoy talking with.

You should say:

– Who this person is?

– How did you know him/her?

– What do you usually talk about?

– And explain why you want to talk to this person?

Bài mẫu band 7.5

Everybody knows how precious it is to have supportive and compassionate friends, and I, of all people, know better than taking that for granted. That is why I always make an effort to keep in touch with people I’ve become close with and one of whom is my old friend, Hannah.

I met Hannah when I studied abroad in the UK for my Master’s degree. We stayed in the same residence, but we first met at the Orientation session at our campus. When we were waiting for the class to start, she introduced herself to me and struck up a conversation. We got to know each other then and got on like a house on fire.

Hannah is from Malaysia, so I felt more connected with her than other students there because we are both Asians. She was a special person to me because she was my first friend in a foreign country. During one year in England, we became closer, and our conversations would last endlessly ranging from family, career, and happiness to setbacks in life.

I liked talking to her because she usually offered me valuable advice and emotional support. One time when I got depressed after getting a low score for my assignment, she was the one who lingered after class to walk me through all the problems I had and made me confident enough to do better the next time.

She is one of the most kind-hearted people I have ever met in my life as she was always willing to give others a hand, and she stood by me whenever I needed help. I remember when I was sick in England, she spent the whole day buying ingredients and cooking hot soup for me so I could feel better soon.

Even though we’re no longer seeing each other as we went back to our country after graduation, our strong bond has never gotten loose. We keep each other in the loop about everything significant happening around us and provide mutual support if needed.

Từ vựng:

  • take sth for granted: coi cái gì đó là điều hiển nhiên.
  • strike up a conversation: bắt chuyện
  • get on like a house on fire: Hợp cạ nhau và nhanh chóng trở thành bạn bè
  • setback (n) sự trở ngại, khó khăn
  • emotional support: giúp đỡ về tinh thần
  • linger (v) nán lại
  • walk sb through: hướng dẫn ai đó từng bước một
  • give sb a hand: giúp đỡ ai đó
  • stand by sb: ở bên cạnh ai đó
  • strong bond: mối quan hệ bền chặt
  • keep each other in a loop: thông báo, nói cho ai về tất cả mọi thứ liên quan đến chủ đề nào đó

2.1. Where do young people like to meet?

I think the mall is a great place to hang out because they offer a wide range of facilities and activities for young people to explore with friends. They can grab a bite as malls have food courts with several restaurants to choose from, or go shopping. If there is a movie theater inside the mall, they can also watch a movie.

2.2. What do young people talk about when they meet up?

I’m not young anymore, and have little contact with young people, but I think they talk about their personal circumstances, like their friends, family and school, and how they feel about these things. They might be struggling with what others are expecting of them, versus what they feel drawn towards.

2.3. Do you think people should be honest when talking with friends?

Honesty is both crucial to our self-esteem and to our relationships — and yet far more complex than we generally realize. I think a friendship without honesty cannot last, since trust is one of the most important ingredients in any relationship. Much of the time, honesty is important to keep these connections going, but some truths can be more destructive than helpful. From my experience, being honest can sometimes end a friendship, so I think it depends on the situation.

2.4. On what occasions do people talk with strangers?

There are various occasions I can think of, such as at a party or on the first day at work. But one of the most popular reasons is when they are visiting a tourist place or when they are traveling to a country for business or other purposes. In addition, due to the advancement of technology, people can easily meet new friends online and feel more comfortable talking to someone they didn’t know before.

2.5. On what occasions one should remain silent?

If you feel your words will hurt others, it is better to remain silent. For instance, if your friend asks you for comments on her/his appearance and you only have a negative opinion to offer, it’s best to remain silent and smile instead of replying candidly. Another occasion is when someone unburdens their sorrows to you, you need to listen to them before offering advice. Sometimes, words cannot fix problems but silence can offer the much needed empathy and support.

“Describe a time when you helped a child”

1. Bài mẫu đề thi IELTS Speaking ngày 22/06/2022

Đề thi:

Part 2: Describe a time when you helped a child.

You should say:

When it was?

How you helped him/her?

Why you helped him/her?

And how you felt about it?

Bài mẫu band 7.5:

Helping others is a gesture of kindness and I never miss helping those in need, especially children. I love to teach them different things related to academics.

It was summer vacation and my neighbor told me to help his four-year-old son with learning English. I was not a teacher but I was quite good with English skills, so I decided to help him in my free time. The best way to learn is to set a routine, so I spent about thirty minutes teaching him every day. Short sessions are enough for very young children as they have a short attention span.

I sometimes read poems and stories for him, as this helped him learn the language as well as develop listening and reading skills. The most important thing was that I needed to be enthusiastic and give him lots of encouragement and praise. As a result of this, he gradually picked up on my enthusiasm for the language.

Another way I did to help him learn English was to incorporate learning with play. Kids learn better when they are having fun. Therefore, engaging them in games is the best way to teach them English. I made flashcards, played games like Pictionary or scrabble and did crosswords with him to help him practice English.

After this experience, I felt so happy and proud when I saw him develop his interest in the English language. I also learned that dealing with children needs special skills of understanding children psychology and a lot of patience.

Từ vựng:

  • gesture of kindness: cử chỉ nhân ái
  • to be in need: cần sự giúp đỡ
  • academics (n) học thuật
  • set a routine: tạo một thói quen
  • attention span (n) thời gian chú ý
  • pick up (v) tự học
  • enthusiastic (adj) nhiệt huyết, nhiệt tình
  • enthusiasm (n) sự nhiệt tình
  • praise (n)/(v) lời khen/khen ngợi
  • incorporate (v) bao gồm, kết hợp
  • psychology (n) tâm lý

2. Câu trả lời mẫu IELTS Speaking Part 3 ngày 22/06/2022

2.1. Should parents teach helping others to their children?

Yes, helping provides children the opportunity to grow up to be a better person. Making them feel good early on in life about helping others will build up their character. They will later on discover that life is indeed more fulfilling if they can make a difference in this world.  At the same time, being exposed to helping the less fortunate will help them to be humble instead of thinking too highly of themselves. They will also learn to be more sensitive to the needs of others rather than being too preoccupied with what will only benefit them.

2.4. How do you encourage children to help others?

In order to teach the children to help others, parents need to create an example. All family members should provide unabated support to their near and dear ones so that the children should consider it an integral part of their lives. In addition, parents can read out stories from books about a helpful child or show your child pictures of a child helping others.

1. Bài mẫu đề thi IELTS Speaking Part 2 ngày 24/06/2022

Đề thi:

Part 2: Describe something that you lost in a public place.

You should say:

– What you lost?

– How you lost it?

– Where you lost it?

– And explain how you felt about it?

Bài mẫu band 7.5:

Losing things is one of the most frustrating daily experiences, and can cost us both time and money. We are invariably unhappy about losing the item, but also about wasting time looking for it. Today, I would like to talk about one such experience.

One day I was taking a taxi home from the airport and had a lot on my mind, and when the taxi dropped me off at home, I got out, paid the driver, and didn’t really notice that my phone was laying on the back seat.

At first, I flew into a panic not only because of its value but mostly because it was the gift of my parents. I was so confused that I didn’t know how to contact the driver or even which taxi company it was that had taken me home. Then, I imagined the driver wouldn’t have known who the phone belonged to either. I tried to ring my own number over and over, and after several attempts, the driver answered. I explained what had happened, and asked if they would be kind enough to bring it back to me.

Finally, I heard a knock on the door — it was the taxi driver with my phone in his hand. I was smiling from ear to ear and offered him some money. However, he shook his head and refused, but instead wished me a good night as he passed me my phone.

It was a scary but memorable experience that I may never forget, and I was very happy and grateful for that driver. This experience has made me more careful of my belongings and now I try to keep my phone as securely as possible.

Từ vựng:

  • frustrating (adj): khó chịu, bực mình
  • invariably (adv): một cách không thay đổi, luôn luôn
  • have a lot on my mind: có nhiều thứ phải suy nghĩ
  • drop somebody off: đưa ai, cái gì đến một nơi nào đó và để họ lại ở đó
  • fly into a panic (/anger/temper): đột nhiên trở nên hoảng hốt (/tức giận/..)
  • attempt (n): sự nỗ lực
  • smile from ear to ear: cười toe toét đến tận mang tai
  • memorable (adj): đáng nhớ
  • grateful for sth (ad): biết ơn
  • belongings (n): đồ đạc, đồ dùng cá nhân

2.1. What kinds of people may lose things often?

I think there are two groups of people who may lose things often. The first one is people who are careless and unorganized. They are the ones who do not have the habit of putting things in order and like leaving things around carelessly. Therefore, they always forget where they have put certain things and may lose things often. The second group is the elderly, who can become forgetful as time goes by.

2.3. What kinds of things do people lose most often?

The first thing that comes to my mind is mobile phones. In the modern world, most people don’t go anywhere without their phones. They’re not only important in our daily life but also our perfect vacation partners, ideal for taking photos, keeping in touch with friends and family, and using apps to find our way around when traveling, but they’re also easy to accidentally misplace or leave behind. Some personal things such as wallets and keys are also some of the most commonly lost items.

2.4. What would you do if you saw something valuable that didn’t belong to you on the street?

Obviously, I will not keep it for myself. When I was a little kid, my parents always taught me that it was wrong to keep the things of other people without their permission, and it was a good virtue not to pick up the things that do not belong to you. Instead of that, I will try my best to find out the person who lost the thing by reporting it to the police station to find the owner of that lost item.

1. Bài mẫu đề thi IELTS Speaking Part 2 ngày 26/06/2022

Đề thi:

Part 2: Describe a family member who you want to work with in the future.

You should say:

– Who/he/she is?

– Whether you worked together before?

– What kind of work you would like to do with him/ her?

– And explain how you feel about this family member?

Bài mẫu band 7.5:

Well, the family business is quite common in my country in which family members work together as a unit. Work-related closeness can bring family members closer together in fulfilling relationships, but it can also produce challenges that develop negative sentiments and drive individuals apart. But if given a chance, I would like to work with my elder brother.

Actually, It is my longtime dream that I set up an educational institute with my brother and together, we can make it a great success. The fact is that my brother is extremely good at management right from childhood, and at present, he is pursuing MBA.

If I talk about myself, I have a great inclination towards teaching, and it is my dream to become a teacher one day. In fact I have a bit of experience in teaching children in my locality. Unfortunately, the area we live in, the education standard is pretty poor. Students often have to move to nearby cities for better or quality education. However, our institute will ensure that they get quality education in their own hometown.

This business, I must say, has a lot of potential as well, which would ensure that we are having good earnings as well. The best part is that my brother and I have a very good understanding. We never have conflicts, and we blindly trust each other, and these things would ensure the smooth running of our business.

Overall, I can say that I am pretty sure that we both will enjoy working together a lot, and I wish one day I will have the opportunity to work with my elder brother. Working can be in full swing when a family member is around. This creates warmth and comfort. Family members encourage each other to do things in business and together we can achieve success easily.
